Edward was preceded in death by his parents, William and Annie Barry and his in-laws, Cornelius and Florence Gambin. He was also a proud member of the Star of the Sea Association. He loved to go trouting, playing darts, listening to music, the occasional beverage and being the "centre of attention". ![]() Edward enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His favourite being the The Northern Ranger on the Labrador run. In 1973, Edward began his lifetime career at Marine Atlantic, where he dedicated 40 years of Steward service on various vessels. Edward met his beautiful bride and wife of 50 years, Winnie (nee Gambin) in 1967 and they were later married in Placentia, Newfoundland in 1971. Edward was dearly loved and will be missed by many. To know Tom was to love him, he was a very soft spoken man who loved laughter and was in his delight when a crowd came around to share in a meal or a good game of cards. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, Uncle and friend to many.Ī very humble man who loved to hear a story and tell a story to whomever he could get to listen. ![]() He enjoyed his life with his family and times spent together at his home and cabin. He learned to play the accordion on his own and he and Gladey spent many hours singing together. ![]() He taught school there for 2 years and met the love of his life Gladie Loveless who he married and brought back to Grand Bank and raised his family and taught for another 29 years. Tom went to Seal Cove to teach at an early age of 16. It is with great sadness the family of Thomas (Tom) Grandy of Grand Bank announce his sudden passing at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Center on February 16th at the age of 76 years.
